At GAT, Students are encouraged to participate and excel in sports in order to provide relaxation, channelise their energy, nurture competitive spirit, enhance team spirit and achieve leadership qualities. The college has taken great care in appointing a well qualified and experienced Physical Education Director to promote sports and spirit of competition among student community. GAT is very well known for Sports under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) for its vibrant, dynamic and active student participation. At GAT, ‘Sports and Games’ is an area much sought after by the student community. GAT stands out among the top ten institutions under the system of Sports Promotions of VTU. We are always ahead of others while accepting the challenge of hosting VTU inter-collegiate sports events. We are proud of the success of many of our students in both indoor and outdoor sports. With unstinted effort by students and faculty, the college has been winning laurels in Sports and Games in both intramural and Inter University competitions.

Men and women vie with each other to participate in games like Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Shuttle Badminton, Chess, Throw Ball, Netball, Khoko, Kabbadi etc and in other various athletic events. GATians have brought laurels and accolades through consistent participation and winning awards in State and National level sports and athletic meets.

Students of this college have achieved remarkable feats as Winners and Runners-up ranging from the Inter-collegiate to University level in games and athletic events and have retained the championship in the University Division. Every year, we celebrate “Annual Sports Day” function for honoring the best sports students. Many of our students have won medals and cash prizes at VTU and Zonal and Inter-Zonal levels and State level tournaments in throw Ball, Volley Ball, Netball, Table Tennis, Chess, Cricket, Kabbadi and Khoko.

GAT has an exclusive admission policy for “eminent sports persons” through sports quota. Frequently conducted intra departmental sports competitions add extra zing to the normal academic life.
